Top 3 Reasons To Au Pair In The Suburbs Of Paris

Hey Au Pairs!

One of the most desirable cities for prospective au pairs is Paris! What’s not to like about Paris? It’s exciting and inspiring.

Most people wishing to au pair in Paris long to be able to live in the city center over the suburbs, but I’m here to tell you that the suburbs aren't so bad! I’m currently serving as an au pair in the suburb of Croissy sur Seine and have truly enjoyed my time here! .

Here are the top three reasons to au pair in the suburbs of Paris:

Best of Both Worlds

Living in the suburbs does not mean you’re homebound to your neighborhood, instead you’re able to enjoy visiting the city center and relish in the peaceful areas surrounding your home.

At the moment I live in the suburb, Croissy sur Seine. I love living in a serene and scenic area! There’s a river not too far from my home where I love biking and several parks where my friends and I enjoy having picnics at, but I can also hop on the RER whenever I feel like going into the city!

Closer Au Pair Family Relationship

Being an au pair in the suburbs generally means you’ll be serving as a live in au pair, which can result in having a stronger and closer relationship with your host family!

One of the reasons I love au pairing is because I get to form meaningful connections with people all around the world.

My host family and I have shared countless moments together such as attending the local Carrot Festival in town, traveling to the beaches in Normandy and visiting Disneyland Paris together!

Immerse Yourself in The French Language

Au pairing in the suburbs permits you the experience of fully immersing yourself in the French language, as you’ll probably be living in a smaller town where English isn’t commonly spoken.

As intimidating as this sounds, it allows you the opportunity to practice French when going out and about! I recall being extremely shocked by the lack of English in my town when I first visited the supermarket.

Absolutely no one spoke English. This resulted in me having to bawk like a chicken in order to ask in which aisle the chicken was located. Now I’ll never forget the word for chicken, poulet.
